Not every smartphone supports eSIM. Here is the complete list of every compatible device, ordered by manufacturer. Before buying, see whether your own device is compatible.
How to tell if your device can use an eSIM
iPhone: Open Settings, then Cellular, then Add eSIM. Should the option show up, your iPhone supports eSIM.
Samsung: Open Settings, then Connections, then SIM Manager, then Add eSIM. If this option is present, your Samsung is compatible.
Google Pixel: Open Settings, then Network & Internet, then SIMs, then Add eSIM. Should this option be displayed, your Pixel works with eSIM.

Requirements for using eSIM

- A Wi-Fi connection is needed for the installation of the eSIM profile
- Your contract need not be cancelled, because the eSIM works with a data plan of its own
